The Parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Tugatog owes its existence to the pioneering efforts of the Legion of Mary’s Praesidium Regina Pacis, which, alongside the Vincentian Priests and Bishop Teotimo Pacis, organized regular masses across two local chapels starting in 1947. Following a petition encouraged by Fr. Jovito Reyes, the community was officially separated from San Bartolome in 1960, initially using a chapel on M.H. del Pilar as its temporary home. The parish reached significant milestones under the leadership of Fr. Reynaldo Romero, who acquired the permanent site, and Fr. Antonio Benedicto, who oversaw the construction of the church and established the first Parish Council. Over the decades, the parish has continued to flourish through a strong foundation of lay organizations, including the Apostleship of Prayer and the Catholic Women’s League, which remain vital to its spiritual life.
