Originally a district under the San Roque Parish, Maypajo transitioned into a productive independent community through the early efforts of the “Kapisanan Gabay ng Nayon” and the conceptualization of a formal chapel by the Young Ladies Association of Charity (YLAC) in 1951. Following the inauguration of a temporary chapel in 1952 and the proposal for a permanent structure by Fr. Pedro Abad, the Mary Help of Christians Parish was canonically erected on April 27, 1953, with a new site secured via a land exchange with the Kalookan City government. The permanent church, blessed by Cardinal Rufino Santos, was completed in 1960 and has since become a thriving center for spiritual synergy, fostering a wide array of active lay organizations like the Couples for Christ and Knights of Columbus. Today, the parish stands as a testament to the community’s growth and its commitment to providing holistic support to the parishioners of Maypajo.
