The Parish of San Francisco de Assisi and Sta. Quiteria traces its origins to a miraculous wooden chapel along the Tullahan River, built to honor an image of Sta. Quiteria allegedly found floating in the water. For years, the site was a pilgrimage center famous for stories of the Saint’s mysteries and healings, eventually leading the community to petition for official parish status in 1977. Despite initial bureaucratic hurdles, the persistence of the faithful—aided by the influential Doña Villamor—culminated in the parish’s formal establishment by Cardinal Jaime Sin on September 11, 1979. The church was physically constructed under the leadership of the Italian Franciscan Friars (OFM Conventuals), but pastoral care was later transferred to the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC) in 1984. Today, the parish has grown into a spiritual motherhouse that manages twenty chapels and recently established its own mission station, continuing its legacy of devotion and community service.
