Tracing its roots to 1960 with the arrival of the image of Sta. Lutgarda from Pampanga, the Sta. Lutgarda chapel served as the foundational spiritual site for Bagong Barrio before the establishment of the Birhen ng Lourdes Parish. Over several decades, the chapel underwent significant physical transformations from wood to concrete and was eventually moved to its current location on Gen. Malvar Extension. In 2005, the community entered a new era under the care of the Institute of the Incarnate Word (IVE), which elevated the chapel into a church and expanded liturgical services. Led by Fr. Luis Eduardo Zapata, the community conducted extensive missions to serve the ten surrounding barangays, offering free baptisms and fostering deep local ties. This spiritual growth culminated in the construction of a beautiful new church—dedicated to the Virgin Mary of Lujan in 2009—and the official establishment of the Birhen ng Lujan Quasi-Parish in 2010.
